The safeguarding of vulnerable children, younger people and adults is of vital importance to us. As a community we strive to ensure that our environment provides a framework which is built on love and sensitivity for our neighbours. We completely support the work of the Diocese of Clifton in ensuring a "one Church approach" to safeguarding. This involves a constant vigilance and as such we work with the safeguarding departments within our Catholic Church to ensure that good practice and due diligence is adopted within our community.
The Conference of Religious of England and Wales also publishes a basic set of guidelines for Religious called Integrity in Ministry. The Prinknash Abbey Community works within the parameters of this important publication to ensure that our own safeguarding practices adequately protect the interest of vulnerable individuals.

The Catholic Safeguarding Advisory Service (CSAS) emphasises that Safeguarding goes to the very heart of the ministry and mission of our Catholic Church. Safeguarding is about nurturing wellbeing, helping individuals realise their potential and of course it is about ensuring everyone is safe and protected from harm and abuse.
The Catholic Church through the NCSC conducts an annual National survey centred around the subject of best practice with regards to Safeguarding. The 2017 report findings provide a transparent insight into Safeguarding matters and how they are measured and remedied. The report can be seen by following the link below.
The Prinknash community has access to the Catholic EduCare programme. This brings to our Community and the wider church an e-learning package which raises awareness throughout the Catholic Community in England and Wales. The e-learning package is part of the Church’s commitment to safeguarding and is available to all members of the Catholic community.
